“Committee notes

1.         Efforts to increase the number of public toilets, both temporary and permanent, in the city

2.         Further that, despite this, the under-provision of toilets is a problem in some areas of the city, with some having no public toilet provision, including, but not limited to, Dalry and Gorgie.

3.         That some buildings owned by the Council or Council ALEOs, such as libraries, offer public access to their toilet and changing facilities, and some do not, or do not comprehensively, such as Edinburgh Leisure

4.         That there may be scope to increase public access to toilet and changing facilities at such sites

5.         That public access toilet facilities in some Council buildings, such as schools, should remain disallowed, for safeguarding reasons

Committee therefore requests a report on expanding and advertising public access to toilet facilities on Council premises, including

a.         How public access to toilet and changing facilities in Council and Council ALEO buildings can be facilitated where it is not currently permitted or fully permitted.

b.         The relevance of the ALEO review process to (a)

c.         How public access to the toilet and changing facilities of appropriate Council sites may be advertised to the public, such as by means of an online map.”
